KARACHI: Caretaker Provincial Minister for Irrigation, Inter Provincial Coordination, Public Health Engineering, Rural Development, Excise & Taxation Mushtaq Ahmed Shah has taken serious notice of the news regarding water theft from watercourses in certain parts of the province.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, he directed the officials concerned to resolve the issue on priority basis by stopping water theft and remove illegal pumps because such situation was alarming and causing dryness at the tail of the water courses. He said that the growers should be facilitated because they were the backbone of the agriculture system and if they were affected, the economy would affect as well.
He also asked the Secretary Irrigation Sindh to bring those to task, who were found indulged in water theft. He also warned those, who were stealing water from the watercourses, to keep themselves away from such illegal activities; otherwise, strict action would be taken against them.
