SUKKUR:A policeman was killed and another injured in an encounter with burglars in the wee hours of Friday.
A gang of armed burglars barged into the house of Imtiaz Mehar in village Fateh Tando near Chakk town in Sukkur district and tried to steal a buffalo. However, inmates awoke from sleep in the meantime and raised hue and cry along with other villagers at which two cops patrolling on a bike had an encounter with the armed men.
In crossfire for some time, two cops Sarfaraz Mahar and Abdul Raoof Mahar suffered bullet injuries. They were rushed to Sukkur Hospital where Sarfaraz succumbed to the injuries. However, the condition of other cop was stated to be out of danger.
