Power supply remained off for 20 hours after rain

NAUNDERO: Pole Mounted Transformers (PMTs) of over 10 localities were removed by the local SEPCO authorities here on Friday.

In this connection, residents and shopkeepers of Eid Gah Muhalla held a protest demonstration at Benazir Bhutto Press Club. They were holding paid bills of their electricity in their hands and alleged that corrupt SEPCO SDO Sajjad Memon had removed links of their PMT despite the fact that they had cleared their monthly bills.

They said that almost every meter holder was subjected to extra detection charges by the local SEPCO SDO allegedly to cover his massive corruption. They said that 11000 KV links of more than 10 PMTs had been removed in Naundero which was high-handedness. They said electricity supply was put off for 20 hours in the town due to rain but there was nobody to inquire why the consumers suffered a lot despite paying bills.

They further alleged that almost all the local SEPCO employees are having assets beyond their means which should be thoroughly probed as to how they earned them. SDO Sajjad Memon said that recovery from the PMTs is very low hence he cannot allow uninterrupted power supply adding until and unless revenue is increased the PMTs will remain closed. He however failed to explain why the power supply remained off for 20 hours after rain.
