President: (President directs to prepare comprehensive package on water and sanitation services)

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has asked Ministry of Climate Change to prepare a comprehensive package to ensure provision of best possible water and sanitation services to every home in the country.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of three day South Asian Conference on Sanitation in Islamabad on Wednesday. The President called for consultations with the provinces to make the strategy more effective and meaningful.

He told the participants that Pakistan vigorously implemented a strategy and as a consequence sanitation facility is now available to two third families. He said similar successes were also achieved by Sri Lanka and Maldives.

The President said South Asian countries can achieve greater successes in the sector through mutual cooperation and collaboration. He said CPEC would help connect the region, paving way for provision of international standard facilities of life to the people.

He said improved health and sanitation will also attract foreign investment in the region. The President called upon South Asian countries to sink their differences and forge cooperation to overcome major challenges confronting the region. He expressed the confidence that the moot would serve as a platform for exchange of ideas and best practices.
