Professors, lecturers protest against delay in promotions

UMERKOT:Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) held a protest demonstration outside the local press club on Monday for provision of time scale promotions.

The protest demonstration was joined by the lecturers of Kunri, Samaro, Pathoro and Umerkot. The participants, led by Professor Zulfiqar Panhwar, Professor Abdul Raoof Soomro and Professor Mohammad Ameen Panhwar, raised slogans against the Sindh government for not providing time scale to the lecturers of colleges.

Speaking on the occasion, leaders Abdul Raoof Soomro, Professor Mohammad Ameen Panhwar, Professor Ghulam Nabi Shabani and Professor Mohan Lal said that the commission passed lecturers of colleges had been deprived of the promotions, while school side lecturers had been promoted, which was matter of great concern.

The disparity in higher education system is an unwise decision, which must be ended. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has kept education system on his top priorities, but such disparity shows that he is not interested to resolve the issues of lecturers.

The leaders said that SPLA had been struggling for time scale promotions since 2010, but no heed had yet been paid by the provincial government despite lapse of so much long time. They said that lecturers were being promoted only one time during their service which was a injustice.

They demanded of Sindh government and education department to come forward with concrete measures and provide them time scale promotions so that they could pass their lives peacefully in the price hike era.
