Quetta mayor for extending tenure of LGs

Quetta:The tenure of local bodies be extended up to 28th March otherwise a case would be filed in a court of law.

On 12 January protest would be recorded during the session of Balochistan Provincial Assembly.

These views were expressed by Mayor Metropolitan Corporation Quetta Doctor Kaleemullah Khan while addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Conference.

Chairman District Council Pishin Muhammad Essa Roshan, Chairman Killa Abdullah District Council Malik Usman Achakzai, Mayor Khuzdar Municipal Corporation Mir Abdul Raheem Kurd, Chairman Kharan District Council Noor-ud-Din Nosherwani, Chairman District Council Mastung Tariq Shah, Chairman District Council Killa Saifullah Abdul Khaliq, Chairman District Council Loralai Shams Hamzazai, Chairman District Council Ziarat Mirwais and other were also present during the press conference.

Mayor Kaleemullah Khan said that right from the day they assumed responsibilities, they had been raising voice on different forums for powers, adding that they even knocked the door of Supreme Court for authority.

He said that powers be shifted to local governments in the light of A-141 Act. He said that they had made it clear to the provincial government that the local government did not want authority rather they want share in powers adding that the provincial government should have delegated 40% authority to the local government and kept 60% authority with it.

He said that the Bureaucracy was creating obstacles and had stopped all kind of funds before the expiry of period of local governments. He hoped that the Chief Minister Balochistan would address the demands of Local government bodies.
