Sewerage schemes in Larkana still in limbo

LARKANA: The apex court directions have not yet been fully complied with by the Larkana district administration for disposal of sewerage water and provision of safe drinking water to the residents.

Commissioner Baloch expressed dissatisfaction over PHED officials’ failure to complete sewage schemes and establish Oxidation Ponds.

He asked the PHED officials as to why schemes are not completed timely despite his repeated orders.

The SE informed him that a new scheme costing Rs200 million has been prepared, PC-1 of which has also been approved by Sindh Government and soon work will be started for improving sewerage system in Larkana on receipt of required funds.

However, sources said that a major scheme for disposal of sewerage water was approved in 2014 costing Rs1400 million for improving sewerage system of Larkana which was to be completed within two years but even after lapse of about five years it is still incomplete.
