Sports: Football: Jadid believes football can tackle terrorism

Quetta:Afghan FC Chaman captain Jadid Khan believes that football can play important role in improving lives of people especially youth by keeping them away from negative activities.

Jadid’s Afghan FC Chaman has reached the summit clash of the ongoing 3rd Ufone Balochistan Cup, which saw 48 teams vying for top honors. The tournament has been played at Quetta’s Mali Bagh Football Ground.

You can see all these people, who have come to the ground only to enjoy football. See their passion and you can see a lot of youngsters here. Why will they involve in negative activities like smoking and drugs when they have the opportunity to use their energy in healthy activities? Football can also be helpful in tackling terrorism as well as it will keep our youth involve in healthy activities,” said Jadid while speaking to PPI before the summit clash on Thursday.

The former Pakistan international player added that the ongoing Balochistan Cup, which has been enjoyed by thousands of spectators passionately sends the message of peace.

The SSGC player said that he has enjoyed the tournament greatly and urged that more people should come forward to organize more of such tournaments.

Meanwhile, speaking on national football and a possible ban from football’s international body FIFA, Jadid said that FIFA should play a positive role for football in Pakistan.

Faisal Saleh Hayat (former Pakistan Football Federation President) has done nothing for football in Pakistan despite leading it for around 15 years. FIFA should not impose a ban on Pakistan and should let the new PFF setup do its work,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jallawan Khuzdar skipper Fazal Mohammad said that it has been a huge great opportunity to have played and reached the final of Balochistan Cup.

Fazal, who was the top-scorer of the PFF Challenge Cup in 2016, his team will be putting its best to win the final clash. The former KRL and Navy footballer wants to have more of such events to increase interest of people towards the game.

Meanwhile, international footballer Riaz Ahmed also praised the tournament and said that more of such events should be organized so that more players get opportunity.
