Two MQM workers sentenced to death in Zahra Shahid murder

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on Friday sentenced two MQM workers to death in murder case of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zahra Shahid.

On the arguments and evidences provided by rangers prosecution team the court awarded death sentences to suspects, Rashid alias Tailor and Zahid Abbas Zaidi, belonged to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement party for murdering the PTI leader Zahra Shahid.

However, the court set free two other suspects, Irfan alias Lamba and Kaleem, for lack of evidence.

Zahra Shahid, who was the vice president of PTI’s Sindh chapter, was shot dead in May 2013 by armed men outside her residence in DHA Phase-IV area of Karachi on the eve of re-polling on Karachi’s National Assembly constituency, NA-250, in 2013.
