KARACHI:Very hot weather hit Sindh province on Monday as Jacobabad and Sukkur cities sizzled at 48°C and 46°C temperature, respectively. However, temperature in Karachi fell from 41°C on Saturday to 38°C on Sunday.

The warm weather badly affected business and social life in Jacobabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Nawabshah, which are the hottest cities of Sindh. Most sufferers were children, old men and fasting people. The prolonged load-shedding also struck citizens amid heat-wave as the government has failed to ensure interrupted power supply to the citizens.

The citizens were compelled to stay homes amid scorching heat while no proper arrangements were made by the authorities in big cities of interior Sindh to tackle untoward heat-strokes. There is need to establish more and more heat-stroke centers in the cities of interior Sindh as more heat-waves are expected to strike the region in June and July, the hottest season times, of the summer.

The prolonged power load shedding in Jacobabad is being carried out with dare by erring authorities, leaving people to face scorching heat-wave. The business and social activities were badly affected across the city due to power outages. Many areas in the city faced water shortage.

There is no respite in power outages in urban and rural areas of Sindh despite formation of Imran Khan’s government in the country. The load-shedding and warm weather have made the life of people miserable. There is need to bring halt in load-shedding so that people could take a sigh of relief.

Karachi also experienced heat-wave with 38°C temperature. Met Office informed that heat-wave alert for Karachi has been downgraded as mild heat-wave with hot and humid weather likely to prevail. Maximum Temperature which reached 38 degrees centigrade on 26th May 2019 is expected to further drop to 37 on 27th May 2019.

Wind will be mostly from southwesterly to westerly direction during day time. Authorities and all stakeholders are requested to take necessary precaution and keep them abreast from heat-wave updates by Pakistan Meteorological Department.

For Monday, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts in Sindh. The government has advised people to stay away from sunshine.
