The Acting Governor of Sindh, Syed Owais Qadir Shah, presided over the inaugural ceremony of the 1295th annual Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi on Tuesday morning. The event took place in Karachi, initiated by the Acting Governor laying a ceremonial cloth on the shrine, marking the commencement of the festivities.

A large number of devotees and officials attended the ceremony, including the Chief Administrator of Auqaf, Farooq Shehzad Qureshi, Manager Pinhon Khan, and staff member Muhammad Akram Khan, who warmly welcomed the attendees. The Acting Governor prayed for the nation’s prosperity, peace, and development with fervent prayers.

In his address, Syed Owais Qadir Shah highlighted the profound impact of Sufi teachings on promoting harmony, brotherhood, and spiritual insight. He emphasized the continuous relevance of these values in modern society, particularly the teachings of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi, which advocate love and tolerance.

As noted by the Acting Governor, the Sindh government is committed to improving facilities for pilgrims at such important shrines. Efforts by the Department of Auqaf and other relevant institutions are ongoing to ensure respect, security, and a suitable environment for all visitors.

The Urs, a traditional spiritual gathering, not only keeps alive the memory of the great Sufi saint but also provides a platform for various schools of thought to come together. The Acting Governor mentioned the rich heritage of Sindh, a land of Sufis and generous people where generosity and compassion have flourished for centuries, creating a community bound by love and mutual respect.
