The PPP’s all-party conference rejected the imposition of tax in former FATA and PATA

An all-party conference held today in Chakdara strongly rejected the imposition of taxes in the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (PATA).

The gathering was organized under the leadership of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), chaired by provincial president Syed Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha. On this occasion, the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, was present as a special guest.

Representatives from various political parties, commercial institutions, legal circles, and civil society unanimously raised their voices against the tax measures. They demanded their immediate withdrawal, as they believed the economic consequences would be severe for the millions of residents in these areas.

Syed Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha highlighted the seriousness of the issue, stating that it relates to the livelihoods and economic opportunities of countless individuals. He emphasized that the PPP is committed to resolving this issue on all constitutional, democratic, and parliamentary fronts.

The conference concluded with a resolution to advance a united strategy. It was decided that the collective demands would be formally presented to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the President of Pakistan, and the Prime Minister in upcoming meetings.
