Pakistan urges world to take steps to alleviate Kashmiris’ sufferings

Islamabad, August 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Pakistan has urged the world community and brotherly nations to take steps to alleviate sufferings of Kashmiri people and to promote the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination. Participating in Special Virtual Session of D-8 Commissioners, Pakistan’s Commissioner for the D-8 Tariq Karim apprised the participants of the worsening human rights and humanitarian situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said despite widespread international condemnation, the Indian occupation forces continue to brutalize and disenfranchise the Kashmiris. Highlighting unprecedented global health and economic challenges posed by Covid-19, he said that “smart lockdown” policy and other measures taken by the government have led to a significant improvement in the pandemic situation in Pakistan with notable reduction in new cases and fatality rate. The meeting discussed various issues related to preparations for the 10th D-8 Summit to be held in Dhaka.

Pakistan’s exports improving due to Govt’s prudent policies: Asad

Islamabad, August 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser says due to prudent policies of the government Pakistan’s exports are improving. Addressing a public gathering in Panjpir, Swabi on Sunday, he said international organizations like Moody’s have reaffirmed Pakistan’s stable economic outlook. He said it was the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan which enabled Pakistan to control coronavirus in the country. He said Pakistan’s strategy is being appreciated across the world.

Kamyab Jawan Programme to help create 50,000 jobs: Usman Dar

Islamabad, August 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Muhammad Usman Dar says Kamyab Jawan Programme might help create 50,000 jobs by the end of this year, through further disbursement of around five billion rupees loans. Highlighting the main youth empowerment initiatives taken by the PTI government during last two years, he said these loans will be disbursed among 10,000 registered Small and Medium Enterprises under the Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme.

Usman Dar said loans of one billion rupees have already been disbursed among 2,190 qualified entrepreneurs since launch of the scheme. He pointed out that the executing banks have approved financing of three billion rupees for 7,592 eligible businesses.

Pakistan to get WB assistance of $188mln for Hydromet, Disaster Risk Management Services Project

Islamabad, August 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Pakistan has managed to get World Bank assistance of 188 million dollars for the Hydromet and Disaster Risk Management Services Project. An official of the Ministry of Climate Change told APP that the project has been initiated to strengthen the country’s public sector delivery of reliable and timely hydro-meteorological and disaster risk management services. He said the project would be implemented over a period of five years by the National Disaster Risk Management Fund Pakistan, a government-owned company managed by the climate change ministry.

Foreign Minister calls for resolving residual issues to start intra-Afghan negotiations

Sanjrani urges govt officials, civil society to play their due role in enhancing green cover of country

Islamabad, August 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani urges parliamentarians, federal and provincial governments, educational institutions and the civil society to play their due role in enhancing green cover of the country by planting trees. He was speaking after planting a sapling at Governor House Murree on Sunday. He planted the sapling under National Plantation Drive.

Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice Senator Javed Abbasi was also accompanying him. The Chairman Senate said trees are the best source of oxygen as well as they beautify the environment. He said one can fulfil his national duty by taking part in the tree plantation campaign and earn reward for heavenly world. He everyone should individually participate in the national tree plantation campaign
