Fire related activities banned in Balochistan

QUETTA: Balochistan government has imposed a ban on fire camping, barbecue and related activities in some forest ranges of Balochistan as an immediate preventative and speedy measure to ensure public safety, conserve lives and protection of forests and wildlife in the province.

An order issued by the Government of Balochistan’s Home and Tribal Affairs Department says that as an immediate preventive and speedy measure to ensure public safety, conserve lives and protection of forest and wildlife in the province, a complete ban has been imposed on fire camping, barbecue and cooking related activities.

Such activities have been banned in Ziarat forests, Shabaan, Chiltan range, Hazarganji, Karkhassa, Kirta forest/ Daraz Bed Dhadar, Sherani-Zhob forests, Harnai forests, Musakhail forests, Barkhan forests, Kohlu forests, Spin Karez, Thakatoo range, Juniper Harboi, Kalat and Hingol National Park.

Jamiat Ahle Hadith leaders call on PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD: Ameer of Jamiat Ahle Hadith Senator Professor Sajid Mir and Senator Hafiz Abdul Karim on Sunday called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

During the meeting, the political situation prevailing in the country was discussed in detail. The Ahle Hadith leaders appreciated the prime minister for according priority to the public welfare steps including the price control of commodities to facilitate the common man.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Sunday congratulated Anthony Albanese, also nicknamed as Albo, on his election as the next Prime Minister of Australia. On his Twitter handle, the prime minister said that the victory of Labour Party represented the trust reposed by the Australian people in his leadership.

“Congratulations Albo, (MP) on election as the next Prime Minister of Australia. The victory of Australian Labor represents the trust reposed in your leadership by the Australian people. I look forward to working with you to further strengthen Pakistan-Australia friendship,” the prime minister posted in a tweet.

Balochistan forest fire continues spreading

SHERANI: No end was in sight to the ongoing burning of pine forest in Sherani District of Balochistan.

The fire in the pine forest near Shergali, District Sherani of Balochistan began on May 18 and was continuing till now.

According to an ISPR statement released on Sunday, Balochistan PDMA in coordination with NDMA is steering relief effort and organizing fire-fighting activity. Army and FC Balochistan are providing maximum assistance with Headquarters 12 Corps is coordinating closely with the PDMA. The fire is mostly on mountain tops (10,000 feet high) away from population centres but continued to spread due to hot weather, inaccessible nature of terrain and dry winds.

ECP establishes 20,159 display centres

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has set up 20,159 display centres across the country for the publication of preliminary electoral rolls for the general elections.

As many as 2,037 display centres have been established in Punjab, 3,609 in Sindh, 3,040 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 1,473 in Balochistan. The display centres would remain open from May 21 to June 19, 2022. The display centres have been set up in districts in government buildings, especially government-run educational institutions.

If an eligible person’s vote was not registered, he can register his vote according to the permanent or temporary address of the Computerized National Identity Cards. The name of irrelevant person or deceased person could be removed from preliminary voter lists, besides address written in CNIC could also be corrected in voter lists. Government employees and their families can register and transfer their votes to a temporary address.

In addition to display centers, the forms were available with offices of District Election Commissioners, Assistant Registration Officers and on the Election Commission s website at www.ecp.gov.pk. If anyone wanted to raise an objection over inclusion or exclusion of a name then he or she would have to submit an application through form-16 of the ECP. For correction of address as per CNIC, the voters would have to submit the application through form-17 available at the display centre.

(Pakistani HC meets Canadian MPs to explore new avenues for broadening ties)

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada Zaheer A. Janjua held meetings with Canadian Parliamentarians in Ottawa to explore new avenues for further broadening bilateral ties between Pakistan and Canada.

During the meetings, the High Commissioner underlined the role of Pakistani diaspora in further enhancing multifaceted ties between the two countries. Various matters pertaining to student and worker visa also came under discussion during the meetings.
