World muteness emboldened India to chilling campaign of atrocities against Kashmiris: Dr Fai

New Jersey, November 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):An informative and educational session on ‘Global Injustice” was organized at Sheraton Hotel, Edison, New Jersey, with the topic included injustices in Kashmir, Palestine and Indian minorities. Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, Chairman, ‘World Forum for Peace and Justice’, said that seeming conspiracy of silence over gross affronts to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir – an occupation which itself violates still binding Security Council resolutions dictating a self-determination there under international and impartial supervision – is worrisome.

He said that unheroic muteness of world powers has emboldened India to a chilling campaign of human rights atrocities against innocent Kashmiris. He deplored that 900,000 Indian military and paramilitary forces operate outside the rule of law under the protective umbrella of an Indian immunity statute.

The movement in Kashmir, Fai highlighted, reverberates with cries of Aazadi (freedom) and believes in a simple truth: a fair, impartial referendum held under the auspices of the United Nations. “Attempts at delegitimizing the Kashmiri struggle have fallen entirely on deaf ears. No amount of wishful thinking has successfully persuaded growing international opinion that Kashmir is not an integral part of any society other than its own. This belief is unshakeable, consistent, and formidable,” Fai emphasized.

He warned that if India or Pakistan or any other power would like to bring pressure on the people of Kashmir to capitulate, or to agree to any terms which will compromise their freedom, then any so-called peace process is foredoomed. The people of Kashmir wish to leave no doubt in anyone’s mind on that score, he added. Fai clarified that Kashmir is the gordian knot of peace and prosperity in South Asia. A just and final resolution of its sovereignty in accord with the wishes of the people of Kashmir is of utmost regional and international importance, he maintained.

“India’s image suffers far more from the obvious duplicity and an incorrigible unwillingness to confront openly its wrong-headed policies than it would if it just laid its cards on the table. The flaunting of its inhumanity — as if to say, we’re going to do it and you can’t do anything about it” – is only deepening its commitment to permanent conflict and suffering in Kashmir. It’s time for the international community to act decisively and intervene in the interest of global peace to settle the Kashmir dispute to the satisfaction of all parties concerned – India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir,” explained Fai.

The US was once considered a shining example to the rest of the world of what democracy can mean, and yet, now, too, we see a complete breakdown of this grand vision at its very source that awakened generations of people to hope for real change. What is the significance of an alliance between the great democracy (US) and so-called largest democracy in the world (India) when universal principles, democratic values and human rights are completely ignored, Fai asked?

Fai expressed his anguish by saying that it is quite unfortunate that the Biden administration and the United Nations both have chosen to adopt India’s view that Kashmir is simply a bilateral issue. He said unfortunately, it is the Big Lie, and an extremely dangerous one, adding India and Pakistan remain on the verge of war with each other, and this is a threat to international peace.

Fai suggested that the breaking of the impasse over Kashmir between India and Pakistan would be greatly facilitated by the presence of a facilitator, a person of an international standing, like Kjell Magne Bondevik, former Prime Minister of Norway, who would define the obligations of the parties under the agreements concluded between them, spell out the contentious issues and the conflicting positions and remove the confusion about what needs to be done to narrow the gap.

Kashmiri people will accomplish martyrs’ mission: APHC, other leaders

Srinagar, November 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), paying rich tributes to the martyrs of Jammu massacre on their martyrdom anniversary, said that the Kashmiri people will accomplish the mission of their martyrs at all costs. The forces of Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian Army and Hindu fanatics had martyred hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris in different parts of Jammu region when they were migrating to Pakistan during the first week of November in 1947.

APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Kashmiris would always remember the unprecedented sacrifices rendered by the Jammu martyrs seventy five years ago. APHC leader Khawaja Firdous addressing a meeting in Ganderbal paid glowing tributes to the Jammu martyrs and said that in 1947, the Dogra forces and Hindu fanatics forced the Muslims to migrate to Pakistan and by deceiving lakhs of Muslims, they actually turned the Muslim majority of Jammu into a minority.

APHC leader Yasmeen Raja in her statement in Srinagar described the massacre of Jammu Muslims in 1947 as the worst tragedy. She said that Hindu fanatics and sectarian organizations like RSS and Shiv Sena had washed the land of Jammu with the blood of innocent Muslims. She deplored that in IIOJK, Indian forces and organizations of Hindu extremists were still suppressing the voice of truth and justice. She said, “Today is a day of renewal for all of us and the sacrifices of these martyrs will not be allowed to go waste.”

Jammu-based APHC leader Mir Shahid Saleem in a statement said that during the first week of November in 1947, the sectarian elements massacred millions of Kashmiris brutally. He added that such barbarism is not found in civilized human history. He said that the victims have not been able to get justice even after 75 years of the gruesome massacre. APHC leaders Khadim Hussain and Syed Sabt Shabbir Qumi in a joint statement issued in Srinagar said that immediately after the illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir on October 27, 1947, the massacre of lakhs of unwashed Muslims in Jammu was the worst kind of Indian state terrorism.

They said that due to the killing of lakhs of Muslims in Jammu, the majority of Muslims there was turned into a minority and now the fascist Indian government of Narendra Modi is playing the same game in the occupied territory. They added that the heinous process of killing Kashmiris had reached its peak and Indian forces are martyring Kashmiris every day.

Kaira asks world community to take notice of genocide in IIOJK

Islamabad, November 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):Adviser to Prime Minister on Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan Affairs Qamar-u- Zaman Kaira has said that India was engaged in planned genocide of Muslims in Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and demanded the world community to take cognizance of the act. In a statement issued here on Sunday on the eve of Jammu Martyrs Day, he recalled that on this day in 1947, Dogra forces and Hindu extremists turned the Muslim majority of Jammu into minority by killing more than hundred thousand people and forcing millions to migrate to Pakistan.

He said that the darkest night of oppression and atrocities by the Indian forces were continuing for the last 75 years in IIOJK and the oppressor was making nefarious efforts to alter the demography of the Muslim majority valley of Kashmir. Kaira further said that in a bid to strengthen its illegal occupation, India unilaterally and illegally repealed the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 05, 2019 and more than hundred thousand of domiciles had been issued to non-Kashmiris.

Besides this, he said that through delimitation and increase in special seats, India was trying to turn Muslims into minority in the assembly and other representative forums which he said was a clear violation of international laws, UN resolutions on Kashmir and 4th Geneva Convention. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were determined to achieve the goal of right to self-determination and India despite oppression, killing uncountable people and unprecedented atrocities, could not let down the Kashmiri people from the demand of right to self-determination. Kaira renewed the pledge that Pakistan would continue full support to the demand of right to self-determination of Kashmiri people and their voice was being raised effectively at all international forums.
