85 UN Member States Denounce Israeli Expansion in West Bank

A coalition of eighty-five United Nations Member States, along with international organisations, today issued a powerful denunciation of unilateral Israeli moves to expand its presence in the West Bank, describing the actions as a clear breach of international law.

The collective censure was announced at a press stakeout organised by the State of Palestine, where Pakistan”s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, joined fellow ambassadors in voicing their opposition.

The diplomats criticised the Israeli initiatives for aiming to broaden what they termed an “unlawful presence” and for attempting to alter the demographic makeup of the Palestinian Territory, which has been occupied since 1967.

It was asserted that such unilateral steps constitute direct violations of established international law and pertinent UN resolutions.

Furthermore, the group of nations cautioned that these actions seriously undermine the ongoing efforts to foster peace and stability throughout the region.
