Islamabad, January 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):Crimes against women have been on the rise in India and it is notoriously famous for women trafficking and they are being sold by traffickers and forced into marriages against their will. India has been marked as the most dangerous place for women due to enormous rape/gang rape cases per year, a report released by Kashmir Media Service, and today, said. It said human trafficking is deeply rooted in India that is affecting mainly women and girls as thousands of women and girls are trafficked through the country every year.
It said women are usually considered second-class citizens and almost every day, women are being assaulted, molested and raped in India. India uses rape as a weapon of war in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, it lamented. The report said India is the most unsafe country for women and gravity of the situation can be judged from the fact that even the Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) is not safe.
It pointed out that the DCW Chairperson, Swati Maliwal, was dragged by a car for 10-15 metres when she was reprimanding a drunken man who had stopped near her and asked her to sit in his car. When she went near the driver’s side, he quickly rolled up window, her hand got stuck and she was dragged.
The report said India’s capital city, New Delhi, has attained notoriety as having become the rape capital of the world. Women in India are constantly in a state of high alert when alone on the streets, at work or in the markets and feel vulnerable and unsafe while going out of their homes. It said rising crimes against women in India is a challenge to the civilized world, adding that the world as well as the international human rights organizations must take action against India for its crime record against women.
