An eight-year-old boy drowned in a pond on Thursday in village Jindodero near Shikarpur, police said.
The boy, Mussab, son of Khadim Punjabi, slipped into the pond while playing near his home, according to a police report. Relatives and villagers pulled him out the water and rushed him to Government Hospital Madeji, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
The boy’s parents requested an ambulance from the hospital to transport his body home but were denied, forcing them to carry the body on a motorcycle. A video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking public outrage and criticism of the hospital’s management.
Local residents and social media users condemned the hospital for failing to provide an ambulance, calling the incident a disgrace.
