Mir Israrullah Zehri, a central leader of the Balochistan National Party-Awami, today expressed grave concerns over the growing disillusionment of Baloch youth and political workers with the country’s parliamentary system.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Mr Zehri criticized the federal government for failing to deliver on the promises of the 18th Constitutional Amendment, asserting that Balochistan had not received its due share of resources and autonomy. ‘The 18th amendment remains unfulfilled for provinces, and the misuse of authority in Balochistan is the pinnacle of injustice,’ he remarked.
He warned of dire consequences if the current state of governance persisted. ‘If a referendum were held in Balochistan province, it would reveal the people’s deep disappointment with the parliamentary system,’ he said, adding that the erosion of trust could lead to a breakdown of constitutional authority and the rise of chaos in the province.
Zehri called for immediate corrective measures to address the grievances of the people of Balochistan and ensure their inclusion in the political and economic framework of the country.
