Mirpurkhas police on Wednesday arrested a notorious robber during an encounter at Lohi Mori area of the city.
According to a police report, notorious robber Rashid Nawaz Arain involved in over 20 criminal cases was captured in an injured condition by the police during a shootout at Lohi Mori area within the precincts of the Old Mirpurkhas Police Station. However, his two accomplices managed to flee under the cover of intense firing, the police said.
The police also recovered a pistol, several stolen mobile phones, and cash from the possession of robber Rashid, a resident of Goth Choudhry Ghulam Mohammad Arain near Mirwah Gorchani. He was active in committing crimes in Mirpurkhas and its surrounding areas.
The police have started an investigation from the detainee who is supported by powerful political figures of the area.
