Action will be taken against disturbing sit-ins: CM Murad

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah says today that we are not against peaceful protests, but action would be taken against disturbing sit-ins.

Talking to media in Thatta following his visit to the Kalri Baghar Feeder, he said that efforts to negotiate with the Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) were ongoing to resolve the protests peacefully.

According to a statement issued from the Sindh CM House today, Murad expressed concerns over the humanitarian crisis in Parachinar, and said that the Sindh government had dispatched relief goods to the affected people.

The chief minister said that the Kalri Baghar Feeder is a joint project between the federal and provincial governments, with significant progress made despite the federal government’s reduced funding this year. He said that 40% of the project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

He said that said that the Malir Expressway’s next phase would be completed in 2025, a move expected to reduce travel time for those leaving Karachi by an hour. The chief minister also highlighted the increase in the capacity of the Kalri Baghar Feeder and disclosed plans to visit the Hub Dam soon. He also confirmed that the KB Feeder project would be completed in 2025.

Commenting on ongoing political developments, Murad emphasized the government’s stance on water distribution, stating, ‘Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and President Asif Zardari have made it clear that not a single drop of Sindh’s water will be given away.’ He reiterated opposition to the construction of canals, aligning his position with the widespread disapproval of the Kalabagh Dam.

The chief minister also reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to expanding the BRT network across the province. Looking ahead to the new year, Murad urged the public to contribute to the continued progress in Sindh, with the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Zardari guiding the province toward further development.
