KATI Demands Urgent Action After Accident Claims Industrialists’ Lives

The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) today issued a strong condemnation following a fatal traffic accident in Karachi, resulting in the deaths of two industrialists and serious injury to another individual.

The organization’s president, Junaid Naqi, expressed profound sorrow and frustration over the incident, criticizing the lack of enforcement of traffic laws that allowed such a tragedy to occur.

According to KATI, the accident happened on the Neti Jeti Bridge when a speeding trailer, which should not have been operating during daytime hours, collided with a car, causing it to fall off the bridge. The victims, a father and son, were prominent figures in the industrial sector, and their deaths represent a significant loss to both their families and the business community.

Naqi emphasized the ongoing violation of the Sindh government’s ban on heavy vehicles entering the city during the day, highlighting the authorities’ failure to enforce regulations and the law enforcement agencies’ inability to fulfill their duties. He disclosed that 132 lives have been lost to similar accidents this year, underscoring the urgent need for action.

In response, KATI has called on Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon to address the issue urgently. Naqi urged the government to implement traffic laws strictly, penalize violators severely, and empower traffic police to prevent future incidents.
