The first meeting of the Karachi Beautification Task Force was chaired by Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, in which officials were assigned responsibility for the cleanliness and beautification of major roads in the city.
Municipal Commissioner Syed Afzal Zidi was given Shahrah-e-Faisal, Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi was assigned Shahrah-e-Quaid, and Deputy Commissioner Central Taha Saleem was tasked with overseeing Sher Shah Suri Road.
Deputy Commissioner East Abrar Jafar took charge of Shaheed Millat Road, Director General Parks Ikhlaq Yousufzai was made responsible for Karsaz Road, while Deputy Commissioner South Javed Nabi was allocated Abdullah Haroon Road. DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah was designated to manage I.I. Chundrigar Road.
The meeting also addressed road safety issues. All unregistered water tankers operating on city roads are to be confiscated. Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will begin imposing fines for violations of traffic laws on the selected roads.
During the meeting, the Mayor requested a report from the DIG Traffic regarding the rising number of traffic accidents. He instructed that all members of the Beautification Task Force work closely with municipal bodies to implement and monitor beautification and cleanliness efforts.
The committee also included representatives from the DG Military Cantonment Board, DG Sindh Building Ismail Khodro, MD Solid Waste Tariq Nizamani, Special Secretary Local Government Ayesha Ameen, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam, Town Municipal Commissioner Nazimabad Zain Malik, Town Municipal Commissioner Saddar Noor Hassan Jokhio, Town Municipal Commissioner Jinnah Ilahi Bakhsh, and other officers.
