Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, on Monday emphasized that young doctors and institutions must play their part in research and development.
He said young doctors must stay informed about the modern tools and innovations so that they can bring revolutionary changes to Pakistan’s healthcare sector.
The Chairman Senate was addressing the third convocation of the Rawal Institute of Health Sciences (RIHS) here. He extended heartfelt congratulations to the young graduates who achieved success through hard work.
He also commend the faculty for their guidance and the parents for their unwavering support. He said convocations are not merely academic ceremonies-they symbolize personal growth, collective effort, and shared pride.
Appreciating the vision of Rawal Foundation and the services of RIHS, Gillani said that institutions like RIHS, are laying the foundation of a healthy and just Pakistan by nurturing professionals who are not only skilled but also enriched with moral values and social awareness.
The Chairman Senate highlighted the modern medical requirements and the role of technology, saying, ‘You are stepping into a world that is rapidly evolving -medically, technologically, and socially.
Advanced technologies like telemedicine and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are transforming the healthcare sector across the globe, including in Pakistan’.
He said AI is playing a significant role in accurate diagnosis, predictive treatment, identifying therapy targets, data analysis, personalized treatment planning, and improving child health.
Gillani appealed to institutions like RIHS and the private sector to invest in research and development and, in particular, improve access to quality healthcare services in rural and underserved areas.
Reminding the graduating students of their professional responsibilities, the Chairman Senate said, ‘You are not merely entering a profession; you are becoming part of a national mission – of care, healing, and leadership.
He said the strength of our nation, how we face crises, and how we build a healthy future for all, will be determined by your skills.’ He said as Chairman Senate, he assured that we are committed to improving the healthcare sector in Pakistan through legislation, effective oversight, and supportive policy guidance.
He said we will continue to support institutions that promote excellence in health and education. The convocation ceremony was attended by Chairman RIHS Khawakan Waheed Khawaja, Principal Professor Dr Muhammad Shakeeb Anwar, faculty members, graduating students, and their parents.
