Resumption of Direct Flights Key Focus as Pakistan, Bangladesh Aim to Bolster Economic and Diplomatic Bonds

Pakistan and Bangladesh are exploring the possibility of resuming direct flights to enhance people-to-people contact, a pivotal topic in high-level talks held on Wednesday aimed at significantly strengthening economic and diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The crucial dialogue took place at the Ministry of Finance in Islamabad between Mr Bilal Azhar Kayani, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Finance and Railways, and Mr Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, a Special Assistant with the rank of State Minister from the Ministry of Finance of Bangladesh.

Discussions centered on forging new avenues for economic collaboration and future development. Both parties deliberated on expanding commercial exchange, deepening cooperation in the energy sector, and improving overall transportation connectivity to foster mutual growth.

The productive session underscored a shared commitment to reinforcing the bilateral relationship, with both sides dedicated to ensuring prosperity for their citizens through enhanced engagement.

The Bangladeshi delegation included High Commissioner Md. Iqbal Hussain Khan, along with Counsellor (Press) Md. Tayub Ali and Counsellor (Political) and Head of Chancery Ms. Israt Jahan. The Pakistani side included Dr. Hasan Muhammad Mohsin, Economic Advisor at the Ministry of Finance.

Both delegations conveyed confidence that the ongoing dialogue would unlock fresh opportunities for regional partnership and sustainable development.
