Pakistan today condemned the use of chemical weapons by anyone, anywhere, under any circumstances.
The declaration was made by Pakistani Counselor Syed Atif Raza during a thematic debate on Other Weapons of Mass Destruction at the First Committee of the 80th UN General Assembly Session. He emphasized that Pakistan is staunchly against the use of chemical agents anywhere in the world.
Raza reiterated the nation’s resolve to continue efforts in upholding the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). He highlighted the importance of maintaining the organization”s effectiveness and impartiality.
Furthermore, the counselor affirmed Pakistan’s dedication to safeguarding the OPCW’s crucial verification mechanisms, reinforcing the country”s support for the international treaties governing biological and chemical armaments.
