The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said today that it has extended the income tax return filing deadline to November 30, 2025, for individuals who previously submitted their returns manually, as the authority moves to discontinue paper-based filings from Tax Year 2024.
This special provision, authorized under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, is part of a broader initiative to fully digitize Pakistan”s tax operations and aims to ease the transition for taxpayers accustomed to the traditional filing method.
Recognizing that some filers may face challenges adapting to the online system, the revenue authority has directed the establishment of dedicated cells within each tax office. These units are tasked with providing all necessary legal and technical guidance.
Citizens are encouraged to visit their respective tax offices for complimentary assistance with both registration and the submission of online returns.
Furthermore, FBR’s field offices will arrange for legal services, free of cost, for any individual requiring such aid during the current tax year.
The initiative underscores the FBR”s objective of creating a more efficient, transparent, and fully digital tax infrastructure while ensuring all taxpayers are supported during the transition period.
