President Asif Ali Zardari has formally extended an invitation to the business community of Guatemala to channel funds into Pakistan, highlighting the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as a streamlined framework for foreign capital.

According to an official information today, during a meeting in the capital with former Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales, President Zardari described the SIFC as a single-window platform designed to assist investors interested in key sectors, including agriculture, information technology, energy, mining, and defence production.

The President noted that both nations grapple with common challenges such as rural development, climate resilience, and economic modernization. He identified sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and health sciences as promising areas for practical cooperation between the two countries.

Acknowledging Guatemala’s backing at the United Nations, President Zardari expressed appreciation for its support of Pakistan’s candidatures to the Human Rights Council and the UN Security Council. He called for the continuation of such cooperation within multilateral forums.

In response, Morales stated that Guatemala, the largest country in Central America, is keen to learn from Pakistan’s experience across a variety of sectors.
