Judiciary weakened Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sindh Ameer Kashif Saeed Shaikh asserted that the country’s judiciary has been weakened and citizens’ rights have been trampled upon following the recent 27th Constitutional Amendment, while accusing the provincial government of “bartering” Sindh’s rights.

In a statement on Wednesday, Shaikh announced that Jamaat-e-Islami would reject both the 26th and 27th Constitutional Amendments. He vowed that the party would “fiercely resist any attempt to destroy the 1973 Constitution,” signaling a forthcoming political struggle.

The provincial leader criticized what he termed “selfish leadership,” accusing them of attempting to establish a “personal dictatorship.” He claimed these leaders were undermining the country’s foundations through such constitutional changes rather than focusing on national stability.

Shaikh specifically targeted the Pakistan Peoples Party’s provincial administration, accusing it of being complicit in trading away the province’s interests. He cited land allotments and the cutting of the Karoonjhar mountains as examples of these detrimental actions.

He affirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami would continue its campaign for the supremacy of democracy and the rule of law. Shaikh announced that Sindh would play a “vanguard role” in the nationwide “Badal Do Nizam” (Change the System) campaign declared by the party’s Ameer, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman.

Quoting the party’s top leader, Shaikh said, “Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has clearly declared that we will launch a strong movement against the 26th and 27th amendments.” He added that the party “will speak the truth, no matter how unpalatable it may be to the establishment or the government.”

The JI Sindh Ameer also strongly criticized the recent statement by the Indian Defense Minister regarding Sindh, calling the minister “panic-stricken.” Shaikh characterized the comments as a symptom of the “after-effects of a humiliating defeat from Pakistan.”

He concluded by emphasizing that Sindh is an integral part of Pakistan and can never be divided or separated. Shaikh highlighted the province’s historical significance, stating that it was the first assembly to pass the resolution for the creation of Pakistan, a source of pride for its people.
