Five Killed as Jeep Plunges into Ravine near Havelian

A devastating road mishap claimed five lives and left six others, including two children, wounded after a jeep veered off the road and fell into a deep ditch in Magri village on Friday.

The tragic incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Havelian Police Station when the vehicle, a jeep with registration number 2735 and reportedly driven by Qasim, lost control and plunged into the ravine.

Authorities have formally identified the deceased as Habib Ali, son of Shafiq; Muhammad Rafiq, son of Sikandar; Murad Ali, son of Muhammad Riaz; Samiullah, son of Muhammad Nisar; and Muhammad Idrees, son of Bashir Janbeh.

Emergency services transported the wounded to Type D Hospital, Havelian, for immediate medical attention. The injured were identified as Shera Fazl, Muhammad Alam, Ehsan, Umair Ali, and Muhammad Asif. Two patients in critical condition were later transferred to Ayub Teaching Hospital in Abbottabad for more specialized care.

Local residents, along with Havelian police and Rescue 1122 teams, responded promptly to the crash site to recover the bodies and provide aid to the survivors.

Havelian Police have launched a formal investigation to determine the exact cause of the fatal accident. Following the event, officials have urged drivers to exercise extreme caution, especially on hilly and uneven roads, to prevent similar tragedies.
