Governor of Sindh, Kamran Khan Tessori, described the promotion of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as a “timely necessity” to stabilize Pakistan”s economy, concurrently underscoring that a significant increase in national exports is critical for economic revival.
Addressing participants of the 31st Specialized Training Program (STP) at Governor House, Tessori asserted that boosting exports is essential for strengthening foreign exchange reserves, generating employment, and stimulating industrial activity, thereby enhancing Pakistan”s competitiveness in the global marketplace, according to a statement issued from the Governor House today.
The governor highlighted the government”s commitment to cultivating a business-friendly environment for exporters, pledging facilitative policies and the provision of international-standard facilities to support trade growth.
To effectively market Pakistani products worldwide, Tessori called for significant enhancements in marketing strategies, research and development, innovation, and the integration of modern technology across the commerce sector.
He stated that ensuring ease of operations, transparent regulations, and a secure business climate is fundamental to attracting the external investment needed to bolster Pakistan”s economy and create new job opportunities.
The attendees, officers from the Commerce and Trade Group (CTG), informed the governor that their training, conducted under the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), focuses on professional skills in international trade, customs systems, policy reforms, and economic challenges. They presented findings from their policy research and ongoing studies.
In their briefing, the program participants recommended the implementation of innovative regulations, improved utilization of digital technology, and greater support for the business community to fortify the economy and improve trade efficiency.
Governor Tessori welcomed the suggestions, acknowledging that business leaders, traders, and industrialists are the “backbone of the national economy” and that providing them with maximum facilitation is a priority. He affirmed that Governor House remains receptive to proposals aimed at improving the ease of doing business.
He further stressed the need to remove unnecessary obstacles for investors and industrialists, advocating for greater transparency and efficiency in trade and investment through widespread digitalization.
Aligning the nation”s trade policies with international standards and guaranteeing a secure environment for domestic investment are indispensable for sustainable economic growth, the governor added.
Tessori encouraged the young officers to champion a reform-oriented mindset to help position Pakistan as a strong regional hub for trade and investment. He expressed confidence that the trainees would play a vital role in shaping future economic policies and institutional reforms, and he lauded TDAP for its effective efforts in professional capacity building.
