Balochistan Braces for Thunderstorms, Dust Storms

Hot and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of Balochistan over the next two days, although rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms is likely in several northern and eastern districts, the Meteorological Department’s Quetta Regional Centre said on Wednesday.

The department said seasonal low pressure remained over Balochistan, while a continental air mass continued to influence most areas of the province, shaping the prevailing weather conditions.

According to the latest forecast, rain and thunderstorms are expected in Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Kohlu, Rakhni, Dera Bugti, Khuzdar and Lasbela, while isolated light rain or drizzle is also likely in Naseerabad, Sibi, Ziarat, Sohbatpur, Jhal Magsi and Usta Muhammad. Extremely hot weather is forecast to continue in Nokkundi, Washuk, Panjgur, Kech, Dalbandin, Kharan and Noshki.

The department also warned that strong winds carrying dust and sand are expected during the afternoon and evening in Chagai, Washuk, Kharan, Noshki, Panjgur, Kech and along the coastal belt during the next 24 hours.
