Youth killed in tanker collision in Karachi’s Khawaja Ajmer Nagri, driver flees, water tanker set on fire

A youth was killed in a collision with a speeding water tanker in the Khawaja Ajmer Nagri area of Karachi on Wednesday, while the driver fled. Following the accident, an angry mob set the water tanker on fire. The fatal traffic accident sparked public outrage. Additionally, twelve individuals were arrested in a series of armed encounters between law enforcement agencies and suspected criminals.

As a result of a traffic accident near Khawaja Ajmer Nagri Chowrangi, 19-year-old Abid son of Raees was killed. Following the accident, an enraged crowd set the water tanker on fire. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the scene, and authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.

Concurrently, police were engaged in six separate encounters with alleged dacoits across various districts. In the Sachal area of District East, three suspects were arrested following an encounter near Rim Jhim Tower, one of whom was injured. Sachal police seized a pistol with ammunition and a motorcycle.

In a major operation by Shah Latif police in District Malir, three individuals were taken into custody following an exchange of fire near Crown Banquet. Two of the apprehended individuals, identified as Ashiq son of Sukhayo and Aftab son of Abdul Ghani, were injured. The third, Taleem Ali son of Amir Bakhsh, remained unharmed. Authorities recovered two pistols, snatched mobile phones, and a motorcycle from their possession.

Two separate armed encounters occurred within the jurisdiction of the Sukhan police station in District Malir. An alleged dacoit was arrested in an injured condition following an exchange of fire at the weekly market near Bakhtawar Goth, while his accomplice escaped. In another encounter on Bhains Colony Road No. 10, three suspects named Mushtaq, Shiraz, and Kamran were apprehended. Mushtaq was injured in this incident. Police recovered two pistols, mobile phones, cash, and a motorcycle from the scene.

In District Keamari, an encounter in the Sher Shah area resulted in the arrest of one injured accused, while another managed to escape. Sher Shah police recovered a pistol and stolen mobile phones from the scene.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU/CIA) confronted suspected criminals near the post office in Liaquatabad. This encounter resulted in one person being arrested in an injured state; his accomplice successfully fled. The SIU team seized a pistol with a loaded magazine and cash.

In all instances of injury, the wounded suspects were transferred to medical facilities for treatment. Police officials have confirmed that further investigations into all these cases are ongoing.
