Water shortage expected in Karachi today due to annual maintenance at Valika Grid Station

Residents in certain areas of Karachi will face a severe water shortage this Sunday, as a planned power outage is expected to reduce the city’s daily supply by 40 million gallons, a spokesperson for the Water Corporation announced today.

The disruption will be caused by K-Electric’s scheduled annual maintenance at the Valika Grid Station on Sunday, December 14.

According to an official statement, the power supply to the Hub Pumping Station will be completely suspended from 9 AM to 7 PM, for a total of 10 hours, to facilitate the repair work.

The Water Corporation has confirmed that it received a formal shutdown request from the power utility to facilitate the maintenance work.

Consequently, the water supply to District West and the Sher Shah area will be affected during this period.

A representative stated that the city is supplied with 650 million gallons of water daily; however, due to the anticipated shortfall, the city will receive 610 million gallons on the day of the repair.
