In response to growing public complaints regarding the circulation of substandard and expired medicines, authorities have launched a decisive crackdown against unlicensed medical stores and the sale of illegal drugs in the district.
The action was taken on Wednesday under the orders of the Deputy Commissioner of Khairpur, Altaf Ahmed Chachar, who directed the immediate formation of a special team to investigate the matter and submit a report.
The task force has initiated its operations under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Arsalan Haider Phulpoto, Assistant Mukhtiarkar Shiraz Phulpoto, and Drug Inspector Altaf Ahmed Buzdar.
In the initial action, the team inspected more than ten medical stores located at Civil Hospital Khairpur and Hospital Road. During the raids, a thorough check of the operational licenses of the establishments was conducted.
The authorities also collected samples of various medicines from the pharmacies for forensic examination.
According to Drug Inspector Altaf Ahmed Buzdar, the collected samples have been sent to the Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory, Karachi, for detailed examination and analysis.
He stated that further legal action would be taken against any violators under the Drug Act once the laboratory results are finalized. The final reports will also be sent to higher authorities for review.
