The British pound sterling touched the 380 mark in open market trading on the final day of the year, Wednesday, while the euro also exhibited robust values, according to figures released by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan.
In the open market, the United States dollar was quoted with a buying rate of 280.39 and a selling rate of 281.15. These figures stood in contrast to the interbank market, where the greenback was traded between 280.12 and 280.32.
Data indicated the euro”s buying and selling prices were set at 328.35 and 331.49, respectively. Simultaneously, the pound sterling was priced at 376.45 for buying and a round figure of 380.00 for selling.
Currencies from the Middle East also featured in the day”s reporting, with the UAE dirham listed at 76.47 for buying and 77.25 for selling. The Saudi riyal was quoted at 74.74 and 75.36 for its respective buy and sell prices.
Amongst other major currencies, the Japanese yen was recorded with a buying value of 1.77 and a selling value of 1.83, according to the same official data.
