The Sindh Association of North America (SANA) on Friday expressed its commitment to provide technical expertise and financial assistance to a rehabilitation facility offering free, life-enhancing therapies to more than 120 children with intellectual disabilities across the province.
A delegation from the North American organisation, led by its President Dr. Maqbool Halepoto, recently visited the National Disability and Development Forum (NDF) Rehabilitation Centre located in Gulistan-e-Johar.
During the visit, Dr. Halepoto commended the dedicated efforts of the NDF team, terming its work a significant contribution to Sindh, particularly for marginalised families. He acknowledged the leadership of Mr. Abid Lashari, President of NDF Pakistan, in managing the facility”s operations.
Dr. Halepoto emphasised that the NDF’s mission for community welfare is in close alignment with SANA’s vision for social development. He conveyed his optimism that SANA would continue to support this noble cause for youngsters with special needs.
Earlier, Mr. Lashari had briefed the delegation on the centre”s ongoing services. He informed the visitors that the facility provides crucial interventions, including physiotherapy, speech therapy, and behavioural therapy, to children with conditions such as Down syndrome, autism, and ADHD. These services are implemented in collaboration with the Government of Sindh and other stakeholders.
The delegation accompanying Dr. Halepoto included Dr. Nasir Jamal Pathan (Canada), Shahida Shaikh Vice President SANA Women (Canada), Mr. Ali Khaskheli Joint Secretary (New York), Mr. Zulfiqar Halipoto (Hyderabad), Dr. Talib Lashari (Karachi), Mr. Riaz Memon (Karachi), Shuja Qureshi (Karachi), Ali Abbas (Karachi) and Abdullah Solangi (Karachi).
