Capital’s Entry and Exit Points Fortified With Facial Recognition Technology

Authorities have deployed facial recognition cameras at the entry and exit points of the city to aid in the identification of suspicious elements, it was disclosed during a briefing for a visiting official delegation.

According to a report today, a group of officers from the National Institutes of Public Administration (NIPA) Peshawar visited the Safe City Islamabad facility, where they were greeted by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Safe City, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, and the Director of IT.

The NIPA representatives were given a comprehensive tour of the project”s core infrastructure, including the Command and Control Centre, the police operations centre hall, and the network of state-of-the-art surveillance cameras.

Officials were informed that the Safe City initiative plays a crucial role in various sectors through its modern technological systems. These components include the Police Operations Centre, Emergency Control Centre, an Online Women Police Station, a Dispatch Control Centre, the E-Challan system, and the ‘Pucar-15’ emergency helpline.

The briefing also covered the performance and effectiveness of the advanced cameras positioned across the metropolis, highlighting their function in ensuring urban security, preventing crime, and safeguarding the lives and property of residents.

Following the presentation and tour, the visiting delegation acknowledged the technological capabilities of the Islamabad Police”s system and expressed their gratitude to the SSP Safe City and his team.
