A recent wave of crime has spread severe fear and panic among the citizens of Mirpurkhas, where several incidents of theft and robbery occurred on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, one of which targeted a female police officer.
In a daring attack within the limits of the Gharibabad police station, Lady Police Officer Shah Zain Phanwar was stopped by armed assailants. She was returning home after performing VIP duty at the walima ceremony of prominent Pakistan Peoples Party leader Ms. Faryal Talpur in Nawabshah. The culprits snatched cash, gold earrings, and an ATM card from the officer and fled. A formal complaint has been filed at the concerned police station by the officer’s father, Mushtaq Phanwar.
Another incident occurred within the limits of the Mehmoodabad police station, where a motorcycle belonging to a man named Obaid Karimi was stolen as he was going to a local gym. An initial report has been filed by the victim, but law enforcement agencies have yet to recover the vehicle.
The night’s crime spree also included a theft in the Rewachand Garden area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Satellite Town police station. A chicken seller named Ayub reported that thieves made off with 20 live chickens, a weighing scale, and other shop equipment.
These successive incidents have sent a wave of concern through the public, with many questioning the effectiveness of police patrols and existing security arrangements. Citizens are now demanding that higher authorities take decisive action to curb the rising crime rate, ensure the swift arrest of those responsible, and restore a sense of law and order in the city.
