Pakistan, Eurasian Economic Union to Develop New Trade Mechanisms

Pakistan and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) have expressed a mutual readiness to develop new trade mechanisms aimed at strengthening their economic relationship, following a high-level meeting in the Russian capital on Friday.

The discussion took place between Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, and the EAEU’s Member of the Board and Minister in charge of Trade, Andrey Slepnev, at the Commission’s Secretariat, according to an official information today.

During the talks, Ambassador Tirmizi emphasised the great significance Pakistan places on deepening its engagement with the EAEU. He articulated a clear interest in expanding bilateral cooperation with the bloc”s member states, particularly in the spheres of trade, investment, connectivity, and business-to-business exchanges.

The Pakistani envoy highlighted the nation’s considerable potential to serve as a hub for transit trade and regional connectivity, underscoring its strategic geographical position.

In a notable point of discussion, the ambassador also pointed to the establishment of relations with Armenia as a constructive development that would contribute to bolstering Pakistan”s ties with the wider Eurasian union.

Both officials affirmed their commitment to formulating future strategies and frameworks designed to deepen the commercial and economic partnership between Pakistan and the EAEU.
