The Sindh government has pledged full support for machinery and equipment for newly inaugurated facilities at Memon Medical Institute (MMI) Hospital, which will now offer cost-free treatment to children with congenital hearing loss, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced during a ceremony.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the inauguration of the Ibn Sina Ward, Ibn al-Haytham Ward, and the Al-Shifa Outpatient Department at the private-sector hospital. He described the expansion as a significant milestone in enhancing the quality of healthcare services available in the province, according to a statement from the CM House today.
Mr Shah stated that the new additions would ensure patient care is delivered with greater comfort, dignity, and ease, reflecting a strong commitment to public welfare. He reaffirmed his administration”s dedication to improving medical infrastructure, expanding specialised services, and ensuring inclusive access to healthcare for all residents.
Recalling a previous visit in 2017, the provincial head noted that MMI has grown to become one of the largest private health institutions in the city, alongside Aga Khan University Hospital and Indus Hospital. He also lauded the crucial role of donors in sustaining the hospital”s operations, terming it a remarkable service to humanity.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in areas where the government cannot directly deliver services, asserting that in the health sector, the Sindh government operates on the principle of upholding human dignity.
Emphasising that education and healthcare are the foundations of a prosperous society, Mr Shah observed that establishments like MMI Hospital provide professional medical attention while also assisting vulnerable communities through welfare programmes.
He commended the dedication of the doctors, nurses, staff, trustees, and donors, whose collective efforts, he said, demonstrate a profound spirit of service and social responsibility.
Citing his personal association with MMI Patron Shabbir Dewan, the Chief Minister also announced that the provincial government would collaborate with the institute on its proposed university project.
In his concluding remarks, Mr Shah assured ongoing government support for initiatives that champion compassion, excellence, and equity in healthcare, stating that such public-private collaboration is vital for building a healthier, future-ready Sindh.
