Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has underscored the critical need to address violations of international commitments in Syria through United Nations Security Council resolutions, warning that such breaches jeopardise regional stability.
During a meeting with Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Ibrahim Olabi, on the periphery of a high-level Security Council briefing on Palestine, the foreign minister conveyed his approval of recent progressive steps aimed at fostering steadiness and national unity within Syria, according to an official report today.
Mr Dar expressed optimism that the proficient execution of these encouraging measures would help advance the cause of peace, solidarity, and the territorial integrity of the nation.
Reaffirming Pakistan”s long-standing policy, the deputy prime minister reiterated the nation”s commitment to respecting international law, sovereignty, and pre-existing accords.
In response, Ambassador Olabi acknowledged Pakistan’s consistent and principled backing and updated the foreign minister on the continuous efforts being made towards achieving national reconciliation and equilibrium in Syria.
