Authorities in the federal capital have taken 18 individuals into custody during a series of operations targeting criminal elements, seizing a quantity of narcotics, firearms, and cash, according to an official police communication.
In one phase of the operation, personnel from the Tarnol, Sumbal, Shams Colony, Humak, and Kirpa police stations apprehended 12 suspects allegedly involved in various criminal activities, according to a report today.
Recovered from the possession of these individuals were 426 grams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, four pistols with ammunition, currency, and tools used for gambling.
Legal cases have been registered against the detained individuals, and further investigations are currently in progress.
In a separate but related initiative, a special campaign targeting proclaimed offenders and absconders resulted in the arrest of an additional six wanted criminals by various police teams.
The police statement noted that the crackdown follows special directions from IGP Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, as part of a broader effort to secure the peace and tranquility of the city.
The Islamabad Police also affirmed its commitment to protecting the lives and property of residents, emphasising that ensuring public safety remains its foremost priority.
Members of the public have been urged to assist in these efforts by immediately reporting any suspicious persons or activities to their local police station or through the ‘Pucar-15’ emergency helpline to foster cooperation in eradicating crime.
