President Asif Ali Zardari today characterised the recent electoral success of Nepal’s Rastriya Swatantra Party and its leader, Balendra Shah, as a historic, youth-driven development that signals a broader regional desire for accountable governance and systemic reform.
In his congratulatory message, the President stated that the active role of young people in the electoral process was very encouraging. He noted that the emergence of youth-driven leadership sent a positive signal across South Asia and the world at large.
President Zardari drew a parallel with Pakistan”s own political history, recalling that the nation takes pride in the legacy of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who became its youngest Prime Minister. The emergence of a young Prime Minister in Nepal, he said, was a welcome development for the region.
Recalling the warm and longstanding ties between the two nations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1960, the President underscored Pakistan’s desire to further deepen bilateral cooperation on the basis of mutual respect, goodwill, and shared interests.
President Zardari conveyed his best wishes for the success of the new leadership in fulfilling its reform agenda. He concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its enduring friendship with Nepal and supporting its progress.
