Major Security Sweep in Capital Sees 18 Individuals Detained for Questioning

Eighteen suspicious individuals have been taken into custody for legal proceedings following extensive search and combing operations conducted by law enforcement across several jurisdictions of the federal capital.

According to Islamabad police report today, the security initiative, carried out on the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, is part of special measures to curtail criminal activities and enhance public safety.

Under the supervision of zonal SPs, the large-scale operations involved the thorough inspection of 502 people, 171 residences, 18 shops, and five hotels. Authorities also examined 162 motorcycles and 69 other vehicles, resulting in ten motorcycles and one vehicle being shifted to police stations for further investigation.

SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, emphasised that the primary objective of these operations is to tighten the security cordon around criminal elements and to fortify the city”s overall security framework. He affirmed that the Islamabad Police will persist with indiscriminate action against criminals, land grabbers, and drug traffickers to maintain order.

The SSP also appealed to citizens for their cooperation, urging them to report any unusual activity immediately to the nearest police station or through the ‘Pucar-15’ emergency helpline.
