A suspect wanted in more than 18 serious cases was arrested in an injured condition after an exchange of fire with the police on Phull Link Road. The encounter occurred when patrolling officers came across a group of individuals allegedly waiting with the intent to commit a robbery.
During the incident, which took place today within the limits of the City Police Station, two accomplices of the suspect managed to escape.
Authorities have identified the arrested person as Mehar Ali, son of Gulan Chandio, a resident of Ward No. 04, Moro.
An illegal pistol along with a magazine was recovered from his possession. Following the arrest, the injured individual was moved to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
According to preliminary information, the detainee is involved in more than 18 serious crimes at various police stations in Naushahro Feroze and Shaheed Benazirabad districts. He was also an absconder in some of these previous cases.
A comprehensive effort is now underway to compile the suspect’s complete criminal history, with authorities gathering information from multiple districts and the Criminal Record Office (CRO).
