Authorities crackdown on transporters overcharging in Abbottabad

Following a surge in public complaints, SSP Traffic Muhammad Ishtiaq today personally led a stern crackdown against transporters overcharging fares in Abbottabad, issuing a strict warning of vehicle impoundment and driver imprisonment for future violations.

Responding promptly to citizens’ concerns, SSP Ishtiaq actively participated in field operations. He personally supervised blockades set up at various locations across the city and directly collected crucial information regarding fare structures from passengers using public transport.

During this focused campaign, immediate punitive actions were taken against vehicles overcharging fares. The illegally collected excess amounts were promptly returned to the affected passengers, and challans were issued to the offending vehicles.

SSP Traffic Muhammad Ishtiaq explicitly stated that the practice of overcharging passengers would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He warned that any future report of fare gouging against a vehicle would not only lead to its impoundment but also result in legal action and potential imprisonment for the driver.

He urged the public to refrain from paying increased fares and to report any driver demanding unjustified amounts to the Traffic Police Helpline 1915 to ensure immediate intervention.
