Punjab’s Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has stated that Pakistan’s film industry is expected to undergo a significant transformation with the launch of the “Punjab Film City” project in Lahore, an initiative that seeks to establish global standards for national cultural revival under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
This expansive 50-acre complex in Lahore is envisioned as a central hub for innovation, culture, and storytelling. It will provide artists with world-class facilities, including state-of-the-art VFX laboratories and a dedicated film and music academy, offering a robust platform for local talent.
Beyond cinematic development, the province is also strategically enhancing its agricultural sector. A shift towards climate-smart farming is underway, focusing on value addition, improved storage, efficient logistics, and certified exports to international markets.
To strengthen quality standards and build trust within the framework of global trade, the newly formed Punjab Agriculture, Food, and Drug Authority (PAFDA) is playing a crucial role. This aligns with Punjab’s transition from raw commodity exports to a modern value-chain-based economic model, supported by comprehensive, integrated reforms across various sectors.
Furthermore, digital consultation, information technology, and artificial intelligence are being incorporated as key components in provincial decision-making processes. A detailed economic transformation roadmap, scheduled for 2029, will also be presented in collaboration with international partners.
Details regarding these provincial developments were provided by Maryam Aurangzeb.
