Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Sindh General Secretary Allama Rashid Mehmood Soomro has said that a Global Peace Conference will be held in Sukkur under JUI-F. He has strongly criticized the Sindh government, accused the Pakistan Peoples Party’s administration of complete failure and said that the PPP has turned the province into a den of problems, while also accusing the police of involvement in drug distribution and widespread institutional corruption.
Speaking to the media in Badin today, Soomro urged party workers to prepare for the Global Peace Conference in Sukkur, where Islamic scholars, writers, intellectuals, and journalists from around the world are expected to participate.
The JUI-F leader mentioned the recent protest in Charsadda against the brutal murder of party figure Maulana Idris, in which Maulana Abdul Qayyum Halejvi, Maulana Abdul Majeed Farooqi, Riffat Naveed, and hundreds of supporters participated.
He emphasized that the party would strongly resist any retaliation targeting its members across Sindh, including in Pano Akil.
Speaking on the issue of blackmailing, Soomro expressed strong opposition, and demanded that the Pakistan Peoples Party government legislate with the active participation of all political factions.
He further alleged that some law enforcement officials are involved in drug trafficking across Sindh, citing incidents where drugs and large sums of money were allegedly recovered from the homes of Police Superintendents. The JUI-F representative claimed that every public institution is completely mired in corruption, without which no legal work is possible without bribery.
In a significant political statement, Soomro confirmed that opportunities for negotiation in politics always remain open, and expressed a desire to converse with any party, whether in power or in opposition.
He also said that the arrest of Asif Ali Zardari on the basis of political revenge would be opposed, and the political imprisonment of Imran Khan was also condemned.
The re-activation of the F-League was lauded as a positive development, Soomro said, “Better late than never,” and pledged continuous support for the initiative.
Concluding his statement, he strongly condemned the conspiracy of the First Information Report (FIR) against journalist Atta Chandio, urging media professionals to unite in strengthening the voice of honesty and justice. District Emir Maulana Abdul Majeed Farooqi and General Secretary Fateh Muhammad Mehri also addressed the meeting.
