Members of the Sindh Information Commission (SIC) inspected the records of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, under Section 13 of the Sindh Right to Information and Transparency Act 2016.
According to SIC information today, Commissioners Muhammad Saleem Khan and Noor Muhammad Dayo conducted the inspection in the presence of Vice Chancellor LUMHS Dr Ikram Ujjan, the Director of Admissions, and other relevant officers of the university. Complainant Abdul Khaliq, present on the occasion, had approached the Commission after the non-provision of records he had requested from the university. Both members of the Commission thoroughly examined the educational records and other credentials of three MBBS students admitted last year at LUMHS.
The Commissioners, while appreciating the university’s active website, directed further improvement to ensure access to information and transparency in the conduct of institutional affairs.
It was further directed that one more officer of the university be assigned as Designated Officer/Public Information Officer (PIO) for the prompt disposal of complaints and requests for information.
The designated officers apologized for the delay in the provision of information. The Vice Chancellor assured that the directives of the Commission would be implemented in letter and spirit.
